Clear Creek Amana entered the WAMAC Conference meet ranked as the top team in Class 3A.

On Thursday the Clippers looked every bit like the team to beat in 3A entering the postseason.

Top-ranked Clear Creek Amana put three runners in the top four and rolled to the first WAMAC Conference title in program history on Thursday at Hartridge Golf Course in Manchester.

Brandon Barker led four Clippers in the top eight with a runner-up finish as Clear Creek Amana finished with 30 points, 39 in front of 3A eighth-ranked Center Point-Urbana.

No. 13 Marion was third with 80 points, No. 14 Mount Vernon-Lisbon was fourth with 101 followed by Williamsburg with 136, West Delaware with 147 and Solon with 173.

Barker finished runner-up in 16:17.1 while Nick O’Connor was third in 16:33.8 and Jack Sexton was fourth in 16:40.4.

Sophomore Gavin Zilleyette placed eighth in 16:56.9 and Caleb Alcorn was 13th in 17:17.8.

Gabe Hinman placed seventh in 16.56.5 to lead Solon while Ben DeValk was 29th in 17:47.3.

Eli Larson of Center Point-Urbana won the individual title in 16:12.7.

West High Runner-up at MVC Valley Divisional

Class 4A eighth-ranked West High had three runners finish in the top 15 on its way to a runner-up finish at the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division Meet on Thursday at the Dubuque Cross Country Course.

Nicolo Schianchi was sixth in 16:19 to lead a trio of Trojans in the 13 as West High finished with 73 points.

Top-ranked Dubuque Hempstead won the team title with 28 points while Liberty High was third with 84 points.

Alex McKane was eighth in 16:21 and Ken Wilbur was 13th in 16:33 to lead West High.

Caden Noeller was 16th in 16:41 for the Trojans.

Liberty High got a pair of top-10 finishes from juniors Bowen Gryp and Jack Kinzer. Gryp was ninth in 16:23 while Kinzer was 10th in 16:26 and Peter Woodward placed 18th in 16:44.
