Volleyball Roundup: Liberty High Wins Title at Pella Invitational

Liberty High continued its impressive season going 5-0 on Saturday to claim the title at the Pella Invitational in Pella.
Class 5A second-ranked Liberty High improved to 27-1 on the season and stretched its winning streak to 14 with its 5-0 performance on Saturday dropping just one set en route to the title.
Liberty High defeated 4A No. 9 Knoxville 21-13, 21-13 and knocked of 2A second-ranked Mediapolis 21-17, 21-19 to go with wins over ADM (21-8, 21-14), Bondurant-Farrar (21-16, 19-21, 15-12) and host Pella (21-15, 21-9).
Cassidy Hartman led six Liberty High players with double figure kills, finishing with 31 kills in the five matches.
LeeAnn Potter had 26 kills while Rylee Fay had 18, Sydney Woods had 17 and Shelby Kimm and Lauren Roman each had 12.
Hailey Hested had 45 assists and 10 ace serves while Addie Schmierer had a team-leading 31 digs.
Hartman had nine blocks while Kimm had six blocks for Liberty High and Potter added 26 digs and seven ace serves.
Clippers Go 3-2 at Home Tournament
Clear Creek Aman went 3-2 to finish third at its own Invitational on Saturday in Tiffin.
The Clippers improved to 21-12 on the season with their 3-2 performance that featured losses to a pair of ranked opponents.
Clear Creek Amana collected wins over Mid-Prairie (21-8, 21-12), Iowa Valley (21-18, 21-13) and Central DeWitt (21-14, 21-16) and fell to 3A No. 11 Union (26-24, 21-13) and 4A fourth-ranked North Scott (21-19, 21-13).
North Scott went unbeaten to win the tournament title while Union was second.
