Pleasant Valley scored three touchdowns in the first nine minutes and rolled to a 38-14 win over City High on Friday night at Spartan Stadium in Bettendorf.

City High dropped to 2-5 on the season and 1-2 in Class 4A, District 4 play while Pleasant Valley improved to 3-4 and 2-1 in district play with its second straight win.

The Spartans raced to a 28-0 lead behind a pair of rushing touchdowns each from Caden Kipper and Ryan Mumey.

Kipper and Mumey led a Pleasant Valley rushing attack that rolled up 339 yards while averaging 5.5 yards per carry.

Kipper scored on an 11-yard run 65 seconds into the game after City High lost a fumble on the second play of the game.

Mumey scored on a 6-yard run with 7:29 left in the opening quarter and Kipper made it 21-0 with his second score of the quarter, a 10-yard burst with 3:03 left.

It was 28-0 after Mumey scored on a 15-yard run with 9:26 left in the second quarter.

City High cut the lead to 28-8 on a 4-yard touchdown run by Tonka Hickman with 6:50 left in the first half but Pleasant Valley tacked on a 27 yard field goal by Rhys Ward with seven seconds left to take a 31-7 halftime lead.

The teams traded four-quarter touchdowns with City High capping the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run by Raph Hamilton with 6:53 left.

Hamilton went 8-of-11 passing for 116 yards and also rushed for 18 yards while Hickman led the Little Hawks with 25 yards rushing and a score.

Kipper finished with 159 yards rushing on 22 carries for Pleasant Valley while Brandon DePover had 59 yards on 13 carries and Mumey added 42 yards.
