Solon had a pair of runners finish in the top 15 on its way to a third-place team finish on Monday at the Hillcrest Academy Invitational in Kalona.

Kiersten Conway placed seventh in 20:45.21 and Emma Bock was 14th in 21:21.23 as Class 3A ninth-ranked Solon placed third with 94 points.

Class 2A top-ranked Mid-Prairie won the team title with 45 points followed by second-ranked Williamsburg with 55 points.

Class 1A sixth-ranked Regina was sixth with 146 points.

Freshman Mary Fiala placed 20th for Solon in a time of 21:49.28 while Meghan O’Neill was 23rd in 22:12.28.

Mya Whitaker placed 21st in a time of 21:52.29 to lead Regina while Annalee Bartels was 22nd in 21:57.74 and Josie Voss was 27th in 22:21.92.

Marie Hostetler won the individual title in 18:40.03.

Solon Places Fifth at Hillcrest Academy Invite

Sophomore Gabe Hinman placed eighth at the Hillcrest Academy Invitational on Saturday in Kalona to lead Solon to a fifth-place team finish.

Hinman finished eighth in a time of 17:57.95 to help the Spartans finish fifth with 129 points.

Class 3A seventh-ranked Pella won the team title with 40 points followed by 2A No. 5 Williamsburg with 73 points and 2A eighth-ranked Danville with 90 points.

2A No. 7 Mid-Prairie was fourth with 125 followed by Solon. Regina was eighth with 213 points.

Ben DeValk placed 23rd in 18:52.41 and Tyler Bilskie was 30th in 19:11.52 for Solon.

Joe Maley finished 26th in 18:55.87 to lead Regina while teammate Ethan Boileau was 31st in 19:26.47.
