Regina Extends Winning Streak to Four With 42-13 Victory at East Marshall

LEGRANDE – Regina didn’t need any late-game heroics on Friday to prevail like it did a week ago.
The Regals led from start to finish and pounded East Marshall 42-13 on the road. Regina scored at least one touchdown in all four quarters and led 28-6 at halftime.
Junior quarterback Ashton Cook completed 22-of-41 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns, while receivers Alec Wick and Josh Dutchik both had one touchdown catch and finished with 90 and 88 receiving yards, respectively. Wick also led Regina with nine catches after having had 15 receptions during a 42-35 victory over Williamsburg last Friday, including the game-winner in the final seconds.
“He’s really good,” Regina coach Marv Cook said of Wick. “They put their best guy over the top of him and tried to slow him down. They did a good job, I thought they did a good job on him.
“They were soft man with an aggressive front five and got after us a little bit.”
Junior Theo Kolie led Regina’s ground attack with 102 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.
“Theo’s actually been coming on the whole year and has been practicing really good,” Marv Cook said. “He had a great week of practice and has been playing well.
“Every time I give him something to do he does a great job of it. He’s catching the ball really well now. The good thing is he’s worked on everything and whatever we’ve asked him to work on. He comes out and practices hard every day and is earning more time and taking advantage of it.”
Regina improved to 4-1 and has won four consecutive games since losing to Class 3A perennial power Cedar Rapids Xavier 35-0 in the season opener in Cedar Rapids. The Regals moved to 1-0 in Class 1A, District 6 play while East Marshall dropped to 1-4 and 0-1 in district games.
Jack Keller led the Regina defense with nine tackles and one sack. Casey Danial also recovered a fumble and returned it 21 yards to help set up a touchdown in the second half.
“He was really good,” Marv Cook said of Keller. “Obviously, he’s a big, physical kid and he did a good job. Especially, the run that triple option and they get to the edge quick with that toss.
“So it was a tough matchup for us defensively, and I thought defensively, we did a good job.”
