Volleyball Roundup: Liberty High Gets Back in Win Column With Sweep of Linn-Mar

Liberty High had to wait a full week to get back on the court following its first loss of the season last Tuesday at Dubuque Wahlert.
The Lightning wasted no time getting back in the win column with a 25-9, 25-13, 25-17 sweep of Linn-Mar on Tuesday in North Liberty.
Class 5A second-ranked Liberty High improved to 14-1 with the win and moved to 3-1 in Mississippi Valley Conference play while Linn-Mar dropped to 11-11 and 1-3 in MVC play.
LeeAnn Potter led Liberty High with 13 kills while Cassidy Hartman added seven kills and Sydney Woods and Shelby Kimm each had two kills for the Lightning.
Rylee Fay had 21 assists, two ace serves and six digs while Hailey Hested added 14 assists and five digs in the win.
Addie Schmierer had a team-high 14 digs while Woods added nine and Hartman had two ace serves.
Top-ranked Cedar Falls Too Much for City High
Class 5A top-ranked Cedar Falls swept City High 25-15, 25-18, 25-10 on Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division matchup in Iowa City.
City High dropped to 5-8 with the loss and 2-2 in MVC play while Cedar Falls improved to 19-1 and 4-0 in MVC play.
Kelsey Law led City High with 16 kills and two ace blocks while Makayla Ribble had 11 assists and nine digs.
Lindsey Bolton had 10 assists and Mia Loughran had 11 digs for City High.
Akacia Brown had a match-high 17 kills to lead Cedar Falls while Katie Remmert added six kills.
Center Point-Urbana Edges CCA in Thriller
Center Point-Urbana held off Class 4A No. 11 Clear Creek Amana in five sets on Tuesday in a WAMAC West Division thriller in Center Point.
The Stormin’ Pointers improved to 12-11 on the season and 3-1 in WAMAC West Division play with the 25-17, 22-25, 25-11, 17-25, 15-8 win.
Clear Creek Amana dropped to 8-6 and 3-1 in WAMAC West Division play with the loss.
Calia Clubb had 17 kills to lead Clear Creek Amana while Hailey Pollock had 16 kills.
Cheyaenne Bunch had 38 assists and Clubb and Gabrielle Bedford each had 18 digs for the Clippers.
