IOWA CITY – Bettendorf already had a talented team before running back Harrison Bey-Buie transferred from Moline High School for his senior year.

And now with Bey-Buie leading the way, the Bulldogs are showing early signs of being an elite team in Class 4A.

At least they were on Friday at the expense of West High. 

Bey-Buie rushed for 199 yards and scored four touchdowns in the first half as Class 4A fifth-ranked Bettendorf cruised to a 42-15 victory at Trojan Field.

The second half started with a continuous clock with Bettendorf leading 35-0 at halftime.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound Bey-Buie scored on touchdown runs of 25, 61, 13 and 2 yards in the first half. His 2-yard plunge came as time expired in the second quarter. He finished the game with 230 rushing yards on 20 carries. 

West High got on the board when junior quarterback Marcus Morgan connected with Tate Crane for a 78-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Morgan then completed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Graham Goering on the final play of the third quarter. They also connected for the two-point conversion, cutting the deficit to 35-15 heading to the fourth quarter.

Morgan completed 11-of-25 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns.

Bettendorf scored its final touchdown of the the game late in the fourth quarter on a 3-yard run by senior A.J. Douglas, who also caught a 47-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Bettendorf improved to 2-0 on the season, while West High fell to 0-2.
