Baseball Roundup: Liberty High Wins Two Eight-Inning Games Over Cedar Rapids Washington

It took a couple of extra innings but Liberty High picked up a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader sweep on Friday.
Liberty High won a pair of eight-inning games over Cedar Rapids Washington taking the opener 15-10 and the nightcap 5-2 on Friday in Cedar Rapids.
The Lightning improved to 20-16 and 15-13 in MVC play with the sweep while Cedar Rapids Washington dropped o 10-25 and 6-22 in conference play.
Liberty High won a wild one in the opener with five runs in the top of the eighth inning.
Senior Isaiah Pihl earned the win allowing three runs on two hits in three innings of relief.
The Lightning hammered 19 hits including 10 doubles in the game one win.
Four different Liberty High players had three hits in the opener led by Nolan Frey who went 3-for-6 with a double and four RBI.
TJ Kimm had three doubles and scored three runs while Keian Secrist went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
Isaac Bender went 3-for-6 with two doubles and two RBI and Jacob Norris had two hits and drove in three runs.
Liberty High scored three runs in the top of the eighth in a 5-2 game in the nightcap.
Cody Schroeder picked up the win working two scoreless innings of relief.
Norris had the only Lightning hit, a double, while Schroeder walked twice and scored two runs.
Frey drew two walks and scored a run while Secrist, Sam Funke and Kimm all drove in runs.
