Softball Roundup: City High Sweeps Dubuque Senior

Class 5A fifth-ranked City High swept Dubuque Senior in a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader on Tuesday in Iowa City.
The Little Hawks won the opener 9-3 and completed the sweep with a 4-2 win in the nightcap in a game that was called after five innings due to storms.
City High improved to 28-7 on the season and 23-3 in MVC play with the sweep while Dubuque Senior dropped to 8-24 on the year and 7-19 in conference play.
Carey Koenig went 2-for-3 with a hoe run and three RBI in the opener while Sydney Fellows was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
Ayana Lindsey picked up the win allowing three runs on six hits while striking out 12 in a complete game and also went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Keli Potter drove in two runs and scored a run and Makayla Ribble had a hit and drove in a run.
Ella Cook earned the win in game two allowing three runs on five hits and also went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Koenig doubled, drove in a run and scored a run while Brooke Bormann had a hit and drove in a run.

Liberty High Downs Dubuque Wahlert
Liberty High used a strong outing from Kinsley Robertson to defeat Dubuque Wahlert 5-2 in the opening game of a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids.
The second game was postponed due to weather.
Robertson tossed six strong innings allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out four as Liberty High improved to 16-17 on the season and 14-11 in MVC play with its third consecutive win.
Dubuque Wahlert dropped to 18-17 on the season and 13-12 in conference play.
Brylee Klosterman went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored and Ashlyn Geasland had two hits and scored a run for Liberty High.
Addie Schmierer and Ella McLaughlin each had a hit and drove in a run for the Lightning.
