Softball Roundup: Regina Sweeps Wilton in Top-10 Doubleheader

Regina swept Wilton in a top-10 River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader on Monday in Iowa City winning the opener 11-0 in five innings and taking the nightcap 9-5.
Class 2A eighth-ranked Regina improved to 16-14 on the season and 13-3 in RVC play while seventh-ranked Wilton dropped to 17-16 and 8-8 in conference contests.
Katie Bracken struck out eight in a two-hit shutout and added two hits including a double to lead Regina in the opener.
Emma Nibaur had two hits and drove in three runs and Annie Gahan homered as Regina hammered out 11 hits in game one.
Courtney Kessler and Jess Hunter each had a hit and drove in a run while Jaelynn Ernst had a hit and drove in two runs.
Bracken picked up the win in game two allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out five.
Nibaur worked the final two innings allowing two runs on three hits.
Bracken went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in game two wand Kessler had a hit and drove in two runs.
Kate Milder, Ernst and Hunter all had a hit and drove in a run in the nightcap.

Solon Splits With Williamsburg in Battle of Ranked Teams
Ranked foes Solon and Williamsburg split a WAMAC cross-divisional doubleheader on Monday in Williamsburg.
Class 3A No. 11 Williamsburg won the opener 8-7 in eight innings while ninth-ranked Solon took the nightcap 10-1 in five innings.
Solon improved to 21-13 on the season and 20-6 in WAMAC play while Williamsburg moved to 27-10 on the year and 19-5 in conference games.
Peyton Sands took the loss for Solon in game one allowing five runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings of relief of starter Carly Ellison.
Skyler Stookey went 3-for-4 with a double and drove in a run for the Spartans in game one while Taylor Moore homered and drove in two runs.
Sarah Heick and Elyse Rios each had two hits in game one.
Kayla West picked up the win in the nightcap allowing just one run on two hits while striking out five.
Heick went 3-for-3 and scored twice while Monet Barnhouse had a pair of doubles and drove in five runs to lead Solon.
Stookey homered and drove in two runs and Taylor Ryan went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.
