Baseball Roundup: Strong Pitching Helps CCA Sweep West Delaware

Clear Creek Amana used strong pitching performances from Brock Reade and Tyler Schrepfer to sweep West Delaware in a WAMAC cross-divisional doubleheader on Monday in Tiffin.
Reade struck out seven in a complete game in a 5-3 win in the opener and Schrepfer completed the sweep by allowing just three hits in an 11-1 five-inning win in the nightcap.
Clear Creek Amana improved to 12-13 on the season and 9-11 in WAMAC play with the sweep while West Delaware dropped to 9-18 and 5-17 in conference play.
Reade allowed three runs on five hits in the opener striking out seven and walking one and also had two hits and drove in a run.
Sam Young went 3-for-4 and scored a run to lead Clear Creek Amana while Casey Ogden was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
TJ Bollers and Parker Smith each had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run in game one.
Schrepfer struck out four and walked two in a five-inning three-hitter in the nightcap.
Smith went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored while Camden Smyka and Ben Swails each doubled, scored twice and drove in a run.

West Branch Rolls Past Regina
Tanner Lukavsky homered twice and drove in five runs to lead West Branch to a 9-2 win over Regina on Thursday in the opening game of a River Valley Conference South Division doubleheader in Iowa City.
West Branch led the second game 8-0 when it was suspended.
Matt Paulsen struck out seven in six innings to earn the win in the opener as West Branch improved to 11-5 on the season and 11-3 in River Valley Conference play.
Regina dropped to 7-16 with the loss and 4-10 in RVC games.
Paulsen had three hits including a double and scored three runs while Tanner Lukavsky went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, three runs scored and five RBI.
Brady Lukavsky went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in a run for West Branch while Matt Whaley added a hit and scored a run.
Chase Becker and Scotty Arendt each had two hits to lead Regina while Caden Smith and Becker each drove in a run.

Solon Splits With Benton Community
Solon split a WAMAC doubleheader with Benton Community in Van Horne on Thursday winning the opener 8-5 in nine innings and dropping the nightcap 4-3.
Class 3A sixth-ranked Solon moved to 15-10 on the season and 12-7 in WAMAC play while Benton Community improved to 9-17 and 6-14 in conference games.
Ryan Geistkemper worked seven strong innings in the opener allowing four runs, two earned, on seven hits while striking out seven.
Sully Steen worked the final two innings to earn the win, allowing one run on three hits.
Solon snapped a 4-4 tie with four runs in the top of the ninth in the opener.
Chris McSweeney had three hits including a double and scored two runs to pace Solon in game one.
Jackson Pipolo was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI and Cam Miller was 2-for-5 with a double and scored a run.
Adam Bock and Jax Flynn each had hits and scored twice while Flynn drove in two runs and Nolan Pattison had a double and drove in four runs.
Benton jumped to a 4-0 lead in the nightcap with two runs in each of the first two innings and Solon could never pull even.
Sophomore Jake Van Roekel took the loss allowing six runs on six hits while striking out eight in six innings.
Pipolo went 2-for03 with a double and scored a run and Miller had a solo home run for the Spartans.
