Softball Roundup: West High Wins Two at CR Jefferson Tournament

West High pushed its winning streak to six on Saturday with a pair of wins at the Cedar Rapids Jefferson Classic in Cedar Rapids.
The Women of Troy defeated Clarke 4-0 and added an 11-1 win over Creston to improve to 10-16 on the season.
Ryleigh Mulcahey tossed a four-hit shutout in the 4-0 win over Clarke striking out eight without walking a batter.
Eva Burbidge went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored and Rylee Goodfellow had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run.
Kate Sehr drove in a run and Lexi Nash scored a run for West High.
Burbidge collected the win against Creston allowing one run on three hits while striking out four and also went 3-for-3 with a double, four RBI and a run scored.
Liv Williams, Mulcahey and Tamiah Teran all had a hit and scored two runs while Rylee Goodfellow had a hit and drove in two runs.
Mulcahey drove in two runs while Teran and Ashley Dyson each drove in a run.

City High Goes 1-2 Against Ranked Teams at Muscatine
City High went 1-2 on Saturday against a trio of top-10 teams at the Muskie Classic in Muscatine.
Class 5A fifth-ranked City High defeated 5A No. 10 Muscatine 3-0 in the completion of a game started on Friday and fell to 3A top-ranked Davenport Assumption 4-3 and 3A No. 2 Louisa-Muscatine 9-1.
City High moved to 21-6 on the season with the 1-2 performance on Saturday.
Carey Koenig hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to lift City High past Muscatine.
Koenig, Ayana Lindsey and Alexa Fredericks all went 2-for-3 in the win and Keli Potter and Brianna Bentler each added hits.
Lindsey struck out six and walked three in a complete game five-hit shutout.
Assumption scored three runs in the final two weeks to overcome a 3-1 deficit in the 4-3 win over City High.
Ella Cook took the loss for City High allowing four runs on 12 hits while striking out three.
Cook went 2-for-3 with a run in the loss while Koenig went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI.
Koenig had a solo home run and Brooke Bormann went 2-for-3 to lead City High in the loss to Louisa-Muscatine.

Liberty High Goes 1-1 at Washington Tourney
Liberty High split a pair of games on Saturday at the Washington Tournament falling to Pekin 7-5 and defeating Central City 2-0.
Kara Maiers struck out 10 in a two-hit shutout of Central City as Liberty High moved to 13-15 on the season.
Courtney Olson and Raquel Trolliet each had a hit and drove in a run in the win over Central City while Brylee Klosterman added a hit and scored a run.
Maiers struck out 10 and allowed just two hits and two walks in the complete game shutout improving her record to 8-3 on the season.
Addie Schmierer and Trolliet each had two hits in the loss to Pekin and Schmierer drove in a pair of runs.
Marit McCaffery had a hit and drove in two runs and Ella McLaughlin had a hit and drove in a run.
