West High, Regina Put Players on IAHSSCA All-state First Team

West High and Regina each reached the pinnacle of team soccer success playing in state title matches earlier this month.
On Tuesday both teams had players achieve the highest individual honors available when they were named first-team all-state.
West High had three players selected to the Class 3A all-state first team and Regina had one player on the 1A first team released by the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association on Tuesday.
Regina sophomore Alec Wick was a first-team selection in Class 1A after directing the Regals to their third consecutive state title.
Wick scored a team-high 31 goals and led Regina with 11 assists as the Regals went 18-6 and claimed a third straight 1A title.
West High put three players on the 3A first team after finishing runner-up to Waukee.
Seniors Joey Kuehn and Gada Ambo and junior Brody Schilling were all first-team all-state selections for the Trojans.
Kuehn was a first-team selection as a defender while Ambo and Schilling combined for 25 goals and tied for the team lead with seven assists.
Schilling led West High with 13 goals while Ambo finished with 12 including two each in quarterfinal and semifinal wins at the state tournament.
Solon put a pair of players on the Class 1A first team as senior Luke Yetley and junior Bennett Meier each earned all-state honors.
Yetley had 13 goals and six assists for the Spartans while Meier added four goals and three assists from his spot in the midfield.
Regina junior goalkeeper Josh Dutchik was named to the Class 2A second team after making 174 saves and allowing 24 goals.
Dutchik helped Regina post 13 shutouts this season, including a 1-0 win over Waterloo Columbus in the 1A title match, as the Regals allowed just two goals in an eight-match winning streak to end the season.
West Branch sophomore keeper Cael Fiderlein earned honorable mention honors after allowing 15 goals in 12 matches and collecting 100 saves.
Clear Creek Amana had a pair of seniors earn honorable mention status in Class 2A.
Senior goalkeeper Blake Malli and senior midfielder Julius Augustine were each honorable mention picks for the Clippers.
Malli made 95 saves and allowed 15 goals while helping the Clippers to a 12-4 record while Augustine had five goals and seven assists.
Liberty High sophomore Kolby Godbolt was an honorable mention pick in Class 2A after leading the Lightning with 17 goals and tying for the team lead with 13 assists.
