Softball Roundup: Liberty High Drops Two at CR Jefferson

Liberty High had a five-game Mississippi Valley Conference winning streak snapped on Wednesday dropping both games of a Valley Division doubleheader to Cedar Rapids Jefferson in Cedar Rapids.
Class 5A No. 13 Cedar Rapids Jefferson won the opener 10-5 and scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to take the nightcap 10-9 while improving to 12-11 on the season and 10-6 in MVC play.
Liberty High dropped to 12-12 on the year and 11-7 in conference contests.
The Lightning rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the nightcap taking a 7-6 lead with four runs in the fourth inning.
Liberty High scored twice in the top of the seventh to take a 9-8 lead but Jefferson won the game in the bottom of the inning on a two-out, two-run home run by Hannah Markham.
Mallory Jones went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI in the nightcap while Raquel Trolliet had a double, drove in three runs and scored twice.
Miranda Jones and Ashlyn Geasland each had a hit and scored a run.
Jefferson built a 7-0 lead and held on for the win in game one.
Trolliet was 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored in the opener while Miranda Jones had a double and drove in two runs.
