Liberty High stretched its winning streak to five with a doubleheader sweep of Cedar Rapids Jefferson on Friday at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids.
The Lightning won the opener 4-2 and took the nightcap 3-2 on a Sam Funke RBI single in the seventh inning to earn their second straight Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader sweep.
Liberty High improved to 10-6 on the season and 8-4 in MVC play with the sweep while Cedar Rapids Jefferson dropped to 8-10 and 6-8 in conference contests.
Keian Secrist earned the win in the opener allowing two runs on six hits while striking out six in 6 1/3 innings while Brady Houser recorded the final two outs to earn the save.
Isaac Bender went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored to lead Liberty High while Secrist had a double and drove in two runs.
Nolan Frey had a double, drove in a run and scored a run and Sam Funke had a hit and drove in a run.
Funke had the game-winning RBI single in the nightcap as Liberty High completed the sweep.
Ethan O’Donnell allowed one unearned run on hour hits in five innings and Houser worked the final two innings to pick up the win in relief.
Secrist went 2-for-4 with a double, scored twice and drove in a run while Cody Schroeder had two hits.

West High Stays Hot With Sweep of CR Kennedy
Ryan Cooper slugged a pair of home runs and Marcus Morgan tossed a one-hit shutout in the nightcap as West High completed a sweep of Cedar Rapids Kennedy on Friday in Iowa City.
West High rallied for an 8-5 win in the opener and cruised to a 14-0 five-inning win in game two pushing its winning streak to seven and improving to 14-4 on the season and 10-4 in Mississippi Valley Conference play.
Cedar Rapids Kennedy dropped to 4-12 on the season and 4-10 in conference action.
Class 4A sixth-ranked West High rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the opener scoring eight runs in its final three at bats.
Ben Madden had two hits including a double, scored twice and drove in a run while Cooper went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Nick Fleckenstein had a hit and scored two runs while Owen McAreavy and Ben Vander Leest each drove in a run.
Alex Swack earned the win allowing one run on four hits while striking out three in three innings of relief.
West High powered to a 14-0 win in the nightcap behind a one-hit shutout from Morgan who struck out nine in a five-inning complete game.
Cooper went 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs and seven RBI to lead West High.
Madden and Fleckenstein each had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.

Prairie Sweeps City High
CR Prairie swept City High in a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader on Friday at Mercer Park in Iowa City.
Prairie starters Harrison Cook and Jackson Nove limited the Little Hawks to just two runs on six hits and struck out 14 in the two games as the Hawks won game one 14-0 and took the nightcap 11-2.
City High had a six-game winning streak stopped while being swept in an MVC doubleheader for the first time this season and dropped to 14-5 on the year and 9-5 in conference play while Prairie improved to 9-7 on the season and 7-4 in MVC play.
Cook struck out nine in a three-hit shutout in the opener allowing just three singles to Liam McComas, Cade Hanrahan and Sam Lewers.
Reese Hayden started and allowed one run on six hits in two innings while taking the loss for City High.
Nove held the Little Hawks to two runs on three hits in the nightcap as Prairie completed the sweep.
Garrett Bormann, Ben Steve and Kolbe Schnoebelen had hits for City High in game two.
Ry Threlkeld-Wiegand took the loss allowing one run on two hits while striking out five and walking six in 3 1/3 innings.
