Baseball Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Splits Doubleheader With Mount Vernon

Clear Creek Amana split a WAMAC cross-divisional doubleheader with Mount Vernon in Tiffin on Thursday winning the opener 4-0 and falling 8-6 in 11 innings in the nightcap.
The Clippers moved to 8-9 on the season and 5-7 in WAMAC play with the split while Mount Vernon is now 8-5 on the year and 6-4 in WAMAC contests.
Brock Reade tossed a complete game three-hitter in the opener striking out two and walking five.
Grant Jensen went 3-for-3 with an RBI while Camden Smyka had two hits and drove in three runs in the win.
Ben Swails went 2-for-3 with a run scored while Casey Ogden and Sam Young each had a hit and scored a run.
Mount Vernon scored a pair of runs in the top of the 11th to win a wild nightcap.
The Mustangs rallied from a 4-2 deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh and scored twice in the top of the ninth to take a 6-4 lead.
Clear Creek Amana tied the score at 6-6 in the bottom of the ninth with three consecutive two-out hits by Young, Smyka and TJ Bollers.
The two-run double by Bollers plated Young and Smyka and sent the game to the 10th tied 6-6.
Mount Vernon got the go-ahead runs in the top of the 11th and this time CCA couldn’t answer.
Tyler Schrepfer took the loss for Clear Creek Amana allowing six runs, two earned, on seven hits in 7 1/3 innings of relief.
Stirlen Roberson, Young, Smyka, Bollers and Reade all had two hits for the Clippers.
Bollers drove in three runs while Young and Smyka each scored twice.

West Branch Rolls Past Anamosa
Three different players homered as West Branch hammered Anamosa 16-1 on Thursday in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in West Branch
Trey Eagle, Brady Lukavsky and Mitchell Knoop all homered for West Branch as the Bears improved to 7-3 on the season and 7-2 in RVC play with its seventh RVC win in its last eight conference games.
Anamosa dropped to 6-11 on the season and 3-6 in RVC play.
Eagle went 2-for-4 with a home run, scored three times and drove in four runs to pace West Branch.
The junior also earned the win on the mound allowing just one unearned run on two hits while striking out seven.
Tanner Lukavsky was 2-for-2 with two runs scored while Brady Lukavsky was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
Knoop homered and drove in two runs and Jaden Hierseman drove in two runs and scored three times.
