Baseball Roundup: City High Stretches Win Streak to Six With Sweep of Burlington

City High won once by walk-off and once by 10-run rule on Wednesday while stretching its winning streak to six with a doubleheader sweep of Burlington at Mercer Park in Iowa City.
Zach Kuepker capped a three-run seventh inning with the game-winning single in a 5-4 City High win in the opener and freshman John Klosterman tossed a one-hit shutout in game two as City High improved to 14-3 on the season with its sixth consecutive win
City High trailed the opener 4-2 entering the bottom of the seventh but scored three runs without recording an out in the final inning.
Gable Mitchell tied the score with a two-run single and two batters later Kuepker provided the game-winner with a single that plated Garrett Bormann.
Seven different City High players had a hit in the game one led by Bormann who was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Mitchell had a hit and drove in two while Kuepker and Sam Lewers each had a hit and drove in a run.
JD Alberhasky picked up the win in game one allowing one run on three hits while striking out six in four innings of relief.
Klosterman notched his second one-hit shutout in as many varsity starts on Wednesday, allowing just a single and three walks while striking out five in a five-inning complete game.
The freshman right-hander has allowed two hits and no run in 12 career innings.
Cade Hanrahan had two hits and drove in two runs while Mitchell and Liam McComas each had a hit and drove in two.
Mitchell scored three runs while Bormann went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
