Player to watch: West High freshman Kenedee Showalter is tied for the team lead with eight goals and has been at her best late in the season scoring five goals during the Women of Troy’s current five-match winning streak.
Breakdown: West High surges into the regional final riding a five-match winning streak following a 3-2 upset of No. 13 City High in the regional semifinal.
After being shut out six times and scoring two goals during an 0-8 start to the season West High has hit its stride offensively scoring 27 goals while winning eight of its final 10 matches.
Showalter and senior Rachel Olson have been the top offensive weapons for the Women of Troy with eight goals each.
West Des Moines Dowling is seeking a third consecutive state tournament appearance after falling into the 3A quarterfinals last season.
The Maroons have won six straight entering Monday’s regional final after downing Indianola 8-0 in a regional semifinal.
All three losses for Dowling this season have been 1-0 with two of those coming to teams ranked in the top six in Class 3A.
Six different Dowling players have scored at least five goals led by junior Meg Simplot with a team-high 10 goals.

Regina (8-10) at No. 1 Davenport Assumption (16-1)

Where: Davenport Assumption
Player to watch: Davenport Assumption senior Carly King is a Duke track recruit and among the most dangerous goal scorers in the state. King ranks second in the state with 35 goals and has added nine assists this season.
Breakdown: Davenport Assumption has been the most dominant program in the state for nearly a decade winning seven of the last eight Class 1A titles and has been impressive throughout the regular season.
The Knights have outscored opponents 112-5 this season, have scored 10 goals seven times and put up five or more goals in 13 of 17 matches.
Assumption has outscored opponents 20-0 in the postseason and won four straight matches by a score of 35-0 since its lone loss of the season, a 1-0 setback at Class third-ranked Linn-Mar on May 17.
A state semifinalist a year ago, Regina has won back-to-back regional games after losing five of six to close the regular season.
The Regals downed West Branch 3-1 in the regional quarterfinals and avenged a 2-1 regular season loss to Solon with a 3-0 win over the Spartans in the regional semifinals.
Claire Gaarde has provided the offense for Regina this season with a team-high 21 goals to go with seven assists while Claire Conlon has added eight goals.
