The season ended in heartbreaking fashion for the Clear Creek Amana boys soccer team with a penalty kick loss in the substate semifinals.

However, 2019 was an impressive turnaround for the Clippers which went from 5-12 a year ago with just two wins in WAMAC West Division play to a 12-4 record and a share of the West Division title.

The Clippers were rewarded for their turnaround season on Tuesday as eight Clear Creek Amana players earned All-WAMAC West Division honors when the conference announced its postseason awards.

Clear Creek Amana put three players on the West Division first team as seniors Blake Malli, Julius Augustin and Spencer Karkosh all earned first-team honors.

Malli posted eight shutouts in goal and ranked second among WAMAC West Division keepers in both saves and save percentage.

No keeper in the WAMAC West had more minutes in goal than Malli this season who allowed just 15 goals in 16 matches.

Augustine ranked third on the team with five goals and was second with seven assists on his way to first-team West Division honors while Karkosh had three goals on the year.

Juniors John Denny and Trevor King and senior Mitch Evans were all named to the WAMAC West Division second team while sophomore Jackson Rosenberg and senior Josh Nelson were each honorable mention picks for the Clippers.

Solon had six players earned WAMAC East Division honors including a pair of first-team selections in Senior Luke Yetley and junior Bennett Meier.

Yetley ranked second on the team with 13 goals and added six assists for the Spartans while Meier had four goals and three assists for Solon (15-7).

Sophomore Gabe Yetley and senior leading goal scorer Jorel Justus were each named to the East Division second team for Solon.

Senior Luke McInnis and junior Braxton Hobbs each earned honorable mention honors for the Spartans.
