Heavy rain ruined the Clippers’ plan to take the field in Tiffin for an opening day double header with Washington on Tuesday.
Forty-eight hours later, it was CCA who spoiled the home opener for Anamosa, scoring five runs in the second inning on the way to a 9-1 win.
Camden Smyka retired 10 of the first 11 batters he faced and allowed a single unearned run on four hits and no walks. The recent Coe College commit also drove in two runs with a two-out triple to right field, giving the Clippers a 5-0 lead.
Tyler Schrepfer stole three bases and scored three times for the Clippers, who had nine steals total.
Grant Jensen went 2-3 at the plate and Parker Smith drove in a pair of runs with a pinch-hit single in the seventh.
Anamosa has lost all three games this season. The Clippers (1-0) travel to Brooklyn for an invitational on Saturday with Grinnell, Baxter and BGM.
CCA will play Grinnell at noon, with a second game slated for 4 p.m.
