Girls Track Roundup: Solon Cruises to WAMAC Team Title

In its last WAMAC Super Meet appearance Solon came up just shy of a conference crown.
The Spartans left little doubt this time around.
Solon won six events and added runner-up finishes in three others on Thursday cruising to the team title at the WAMAC Conference Super Meet at Central DeWitt.
The Spartans rolled up 136 points, 34.5 more than runner-up Williamsburg which was the only other team to reach 100 points. Mount Vernon was third with 78 points followed by Marion with 65 and Center Point-Urbana with 63.
Clear Creek Amana placed 12th with 20 points.
Senior Erin Kerkhoff won titles in the 100 and 400 added a runner-up finish in the 200 and anchored the Solon 4×400 relay team to title to pace the Spartans.
Kerkhoff won 100 in 12.63 and claimed her fourth consecutive WAMAC title in the 400 in a time of 59.68.
The Spartans got individual titles from Emma Bock in the 800 and Gabbi Bullard in the 400 hurdles and won the 4×400 and distance medley relays.
Bock won the 800 in 2:25.32 while Bullard claimed the 400 hurdle crown in 1:07.48.
The Solon 4×400 team of Kaia Holtkamp, Bock, Abby Smith and Kerkhoff won in 4:04.61 and the distance medley relay team of Taylor Ryan, Khaylor Fleck, Bullard and Holtkamp won in 4:24.25.
Solon also got runner-up finishes from freshman Makinley Levin in the long jump and its 4×100 team.
The Spartans had two athletes place in four different individual events as Levin placed third in the 100 and 400 and Ryan was third in the 200.
Smith and Holtkamp each placed in the high jump.
Kaylie Barker placed fourth in the 3,000 in 11:24.07 to lead Clear Creek Amana while Karsyn Stratton was fifth in the long jump.
Ainsley Schrock was fifth in the discus and eighth in the shot put for the Clippers.

Regina Fifth at RVC Meet
Regina and West Branch each won relay titles on Thursday at the River Valley Conference meet at Camanche.
West Branch won the shuttle hurdle relay and Regina won the 4×200 as both teams posted top-10 team finishes.
Regina placed fifth with 60 points while West Branch was 10th with 39 points at the 14-team meet.
Cascade won the team title with 113 points followed by Mid-Prairie with 92 points and Anamosa with 80.
The West Branch foursome of Jaylen Votroubek, Sasha Koenig, Chloe Sarver and Kaiya Luneckas won the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:08.98.
Votroubek added a runner-up finish in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:08.19 for the Bears while Luneckas was sixth in the 400 hurdles and Koeng was fifth in the long jump.
The Regina squad of Madeline Adam, Annie Gahan, Hope Simpson and Jaedynn Evans won the 4×200 in 1:51.92.
Regina got a runner-up finish from Annalee Bartels in the 3,000 and Evans was runner-up in the high jump.
