Girls Soccer Roundup: West High Gets First Win

West High needed just two minutes to get on the scoreboard Tuesday on its way to getting in the win column for the first time this season.
Freshman Makenna Vonderhaar scored a goal in the second minute as West High earned its first win of the season with a 3-1 win over Dubuque Wahlert at Barker Field in Iowa City.
West High improved to 1-8 and 1-4 in Mississippi Valley Conference play while Dubuque Wahlert dropped to 6-4 and 2-3 in MVC play.
Hannah Cantrell gave West High a 2-0 lead with a goal in the 21st minute and Rachel Olson caped the West High scoring with a goal in the 50th minute.
Cantrell and Grace Curran each had assists for the Women of Troy while Julia Bernat had three saves in goal.
City High Stretches Win Streak to Six
City High pushed its win streak to six with a 5-1 win over Western Dubuque on Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division matchup in Iowa City.
Sam Schroder scored a pair of goals as City High improved to 6-2 on the season and 5-0 in MVC play while Western Dubuque dropped to 3-6 and 2-4 in MVC play.
Morgan Turner, Sara Cassady and Mia DePrenger all added goals for City High while DePrenger had a pair of assists in the win.
