Golf Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Junior McCarty Shoots One-Over-Par 73 to Win West Liberty Invite

Brandon McCarty birdied three of the final five holes and finished with a one-over-par 73 to earn individual medalist honors at the 11-team West Liberty Invitational on Tuesday at the West Liberty Golf and Country Club.
McCarty followed up a 40 on the opening nine with a three-under-par 33 on the back to finish two strokes in front of runner-up Tucker Kinney of Central DeWitt.
The individual title by McCarty helped Clear Creek Amana to a third-place finish with a 340.
Central DeWitt won the team title with a 318 while West Branch had a trio of golfers shoot 80 or better on its way to a runner-up finish with a 325.
Freshman Dylan Countryman shot a 79 to place fifth for West Branch while freshman Brady Knoop and Ted Bridges each shot an 80 to place seventh and eighth respectively.
Regina finished ninth in the team standings with a 372 and was led by junior Mark Schomer with an 82.
