The first home match in the history of West Branch soccer was one to remember.
The Bears made sure of that on Monday.
Peyton Miller, Simon Palmer and Matt Whaley all scored goals to lift West Branch to a 3-2 win over Anamosa in its first ever home match.
West Branch improved to 2-2 on the season with the win while Anamosa dropped to 1-6 with the loss.
Gage Gingerich and Brett Schiele each had assists for the Bears while Cael Fiderlein had six saves in goal including three in the second half to preserve the lead.
Clear Creek Amana Wins Fifth Straight
Clear Creek Amana ran its winning streak to five with a 4-2 win over Class 1A No. 11 West Liberty in a non-conference match on Monday in Tiffin.
Mitch Evans scored a pair of goals and JJ Denny and Trevor King each added one as Clear Creek Amana improved to 5-2 with its fifth consecutive win.
King had an assist on the Denny goal for Clear Creek Amana which has scored 12 goals in its past two games after an 8-0 win over Maquoketa last Thursday.
West Liberty dropped to 3-3 on the season with its second consecutive loss.
