Neely Maurus spent her freshman season making history in the first season of Liberty High golf.

Maurus added a couple more firsts to her career resume on Wednesday at the Crandic Meet.

The first eagle in Liberty High history helped Maurus become the first Lightning golfer to win a Crandic Meet title on Wednesday at Brown Deer Golf Course in Coralville.

Maurus eagled the par-5 15th while shooting a 40 on the back nine to finish with an 83 on Wednesday, two strokes better than Cedar Rapids Xavier sophomore Ellie Braksiek.

The individual title by Maurus helped Liberty High to a sixth-place team finish with a 398.

Linn-Mar won the team title with a 369 to finish two strokes in front of runner-up Cedar Rapids Washington.

Cedar Rapids Xavier was third with a 377 followed by West High with a 390 and Cedar Rapids Kennedy with a 392.

City High was seventh with a 399.

Maurus shot a 43 on the front nine and opened the back nine with a double bogey and a bogey before shooting two-over-par on the final seven holes.

City High senior shot an 88 to place fifth while West High’s Ellie Kouba and Claudia Chia each shot a 91 to finish with Brittany Postma of Cedar Rapids Washington in a tie for seventh place.
