For the second straight day West High took an early lead at the Bettendorf Tournament only to see it slip away late.

West High took a 1-0 lead on Downers Grove South (Illinois) on a Kenadee Showalter goal but couldn’t hang on falling 3-1 to the Mustangs on Saturday in Bettendorf.

The Women of Troy dropped to 0-2 on the season with the loss after falling to Bettendorf 2-1 in its season opener on Friday night.

Showalter scored the goal in the opener against Bettendorf off an Anna Verry assist.

City High Falls to Union

Class 3A No. 14 City High fell to Class 1A No. 4 Union 1-0 on Saturday in a non-conference contest in LaPorte City.

City High dropped to 0-2 on the season with the loss while Union improved to 1-0.
