Boys Track Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Wins Title at Go-Hawk Invite

Clear Creek Amana won five events and rolled to the team title at the Go-Hawk Invitational on Thursday in Waverly.
Nick O’Connor and Brandon Barker won titles in the 1,600 and 3,200 titles respectively as the Clippers dominated the distance events en route to the team title.
Clear Creek Amana rolled up 117.5 points to finish 15 points in front of runner-up Dike-New Hartford.
O’Connor won the 1,600 in 4:37.43 and teammate Jack Sexton was third in 5:00.16 while Brandon Barker won the 3,200 in 10:14.38 and Caleb Alcorn was runner-up in 10:53.86.
Clear Creek Amana added a trio of relay titles winning the 4×800, sprint medley and distance medley relays.
O’Connor, Sexton teamed with Gavin Zillyette and Kaden McAreavy to win the 4×800 in 8:31.23.
Trever Stockman, Ethan Pegump, Zach Kabbage and Harrison Cory won the sprint medley in 1:41.57 and Kabbage, Cory, Zillyette and Tom Johnson won the distance medley in 3:52.3.

Solon Sweeps Throwing Events at Viking Early Bird
Coal Flansburg and Rocky Lensing each won individual titles as Solon swept the throwing events at the Viking Early Bird on Thursday in Vinton.
Flansburg won the discus with a toss of 161-9 while Lensing took the shot put title with a mark of 51-4 as Solon finished in a tie for fifth with 65 points.
Dubuque Wahlert won the team title with 117 points followed by Williamsburg with 105 and Vinton-Shellsburg with 100.
Thomas Brandt earned runner-up finishes in both the 110 and 400 hurdles for Solon while Colton Hoffman was runner-up in the high jump.
Solon placed third in the 4×200 and fourth in both the 4×100 and 4×800.

City High Wins Five Events at Mount Pleasant Invite
City High got individual titles from Ry Threlkeld-Wiegand, Oisin Leopold and Soren Ostby and added a pair of relay crowns in a strong showing at the Mount Pleasant Invite on Thursday.
Ry Threlkeld-Wiegand won the 3,200 and finished runner-up in the 1,600 and Leopold and Ostby swept the hurdle events to pace the Little Hawks.
Leopold won the 110 hurdles in 15.43 while Ostby won the 400 hurdles in 59.11.
The foursome of Daniel Brown, Jovan Harris, Carter Seaton and Max DePrenger won the 4×400 in 3:32.79 and Kaleba Jack, Dahron Fouch, DePrenger and Brown won the distance medley in 3:35.74.
Matt Taylor added a runner-up finish in the 800 while Jack was runner-up in the long jump and the Little Hawks placed second in both the 4×200 and shuttle hurdle relays.
