The weather on Thursday was near perfect for a season-opening track meet.

City High took advantage of the sunny skies and warm temperatures with a strong performance in its first outdoor action of the season.

The Little Hawks scored 110 points to finish runner-up in the Class A division at the Steve Roth Relays at Case Field in Washington.

Mount Pleasant won the team title with 139 points while Ottumwa was third with 96 and West High placed sixth with 60 points.

Daniel Brown, Owen Jones and Ry Threlkeld-Wiegand all won individual titles to lead City High to the runner-up team finish.

Brown won the 800 in 2:00.94 and Jones claimed a title in the 1,600 in 4:44.86.

Threlkeld-Wiegand won the 3,200 in a time of 10:16.47 while Jones was third.

Landon Green won the discus with a toss of 139-1 to pace West High while the Trojan distance medley relay team of Cole Mabry, Nick Johnson, Osman Salama and Yousif Salama finished first in a time of 3:51.22.

The Trojans also got runner-up finishes from Shamar Wyatt in the 100 and Will Conrad in the 1,600.
