In two separate stints as ahead coach Jeff Wallace directed Regina to two of the most successful stretches in program history.

On Thursday Wallace announced he was stepping away from coaching for good.

“Today, I told the girls in our Regina basketball program that I will not be returning and will effectively be retiring from coaching,” Wallace wrote in a post on social media.

Wallace compiled a 177-47 mark in nine total seasons at the helm of the Regina program leading the Regals to the state tournament three times.  

He won 120 games in six seasons from 2000-2006 and posted a 57-17 in his second tenure as head coach from 2016 to 2019.

Regina reached the state tournament in both 2017 and 2018 winning a combined 47 games during those two seasons.

That stretched included a 26-1 mark in 2017 that ended with a spot in the 2A semifinals.

Regina was 10-11 this season, losing to North Linn in a district semifinal.

“I’ve been blessed by so many great players of the years who have had an amazing impact on my life,” Wallace wrote. “It is time to once again devote more time to family and work.”
Wallace’s daughter Kennedy was a third-team all-state selection this season as a senior after leading Regina in scoring and has signed to play basketball at Truman State.
