Cedar Rapids Kennedy used a 23-point third quarter to pull away for a 57-50 win over Liberty High on Wednesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division matchup in Cedar Rapids.

Liberty High dropped to 6-11 with its fourth straight loss while Cedar Rapids Kennedy snapped a seven-game losing skid and improved to 7-10 on the season.

Ethan O’Donnell had 19 points and Andre Brandon added 14 for the Lightning.

Bowen Gryp had nine points and Isaac Bender six for Liberty High.

Jack Wetzel had a game-high 28 for Cedar Rapids Kennedy and Caleb Schlaak added 14 for the Cougars.

City High Wins Second Straight

City High stopped a losing skid with a win on Saturday and the Little Hawks kept things going the right way on Wednesday.

City High built a six-point halftime deficit and held on for a 65-62 win over Cedar Rapids Washington in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division matchup in Cedar Rapids.

The Little Hawks improved to 5-12 with the win while Cedar Rapids Washington dropped to 8-9.
