For the first time in five seasons the West High swimming team is back on top of the Mississippi Valley Conference.
Izaak Hajek and James Pinter each won a pair of individual titles as West High ran away with the team title at the Mississippi Valley Conference Super Meet on Monday at the Linn-Mar Aquatic Center.
West High rolled up 397 points to outdistance runner-up Cedar Rapids Washington by more than 100 points for its first MVC title since 2014.
The Trojans finished runner-up at the Super Meet three of the past four years, including last season, but returned to the top in impressive fashion on Monday winning five of 11 events.
Hajek won titles in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly on his way to being named MVC athlete of the year.
The junior won the 200 IM in a time of 1:59.27 and set an MVC record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.09.
Hajek had plenty of help on Monday namely from Pinter who added titles in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Pinter won the 100 freestyle by more than two seconds in a time of 47.68 and added a title in the 100 backstroke in 52.6.
