City High crowned four individual champions on its way to a runner-up team finish at the Cedar Rapids Jefferson J-Hawk Invitational on Saturday in Cedar Rapids.

Kyle Hefley, Brandon Lalla, Garrett Bormann and Jacob Murry all won individual titles for City High as the Little Hawks rolled up 208 points.

Underwood had three champions and won the team title with 223 points while Dubuque Hempstead was third with 185.5 and Indianola was fourth with 159.

Murry (19-3) won the 285-pound title with a 6-3 decision over Cedar Rapids Jefferson’s Dawson Sweet while Lalla (24-6) claimed the 160-pound title with a 10-5 win over Trever Maiers of Dubuque Hempstead.

Hefley (25-5) pinned Tanner Ownes of Underwood in 59 seconds in the 152-pound title match and Bormann (26-2) won a 4-2 decision over Dayne Cordray of Fort Madison in sudden victory.

Hoeft, Garvin Finish Runner-up at Midwest Shootout

West High had a pair of individual runner-up finishes on its way to an 11th place team finish at the two-day Bettendorf Midwest Shootout in Bettendorf.

Hunter Garvin finished second at 126 pounds and Will Hoeft was runner-up at 182 as West High finished with 115 team points.

Liberty won the team title with 313.5 points followed by Waverly-Shell Rock with 284 points and host Bettendorf with 220.

Landon Green added a third-place finish for West High at 220 points while Grant O’Dell was sixth at 106 and Graham Gambrall was seventh at 138.

Regina With Three Runner-up Finishes at Cascade

Nick Milder, Rowan Udell and Aidan Udell all earned runner-up finishes for Regina on Saturday at the Cascade Invitational.

The three runner-up finishes helpd Regina to an 11th place team finish with 62 points.

Union won the team title with 221.5 points followed by Western Dubuque with 182.5 points and Dyersville Beckman with 115.5.

Aidan Udell was runner-up at 152 pounds while Milder dropped a 5-2 decision to Western Dubuque’s Devin Ludwig in the 182-pound title match.

Rowan Udell was runner-up at 195 pounds falling 11-0 to Dyersville Beckman’s Owen Grover in the title match.
