Girls Basketball Roundup: Zacharias Leads West High Past Dubuque Hempstead

Lauren Zacharias posted a career-high scoring output for the second straight game on Tuesday as West High pulled away for a 71-60 win over Dubuque Hempstead in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division contest in Iowa City.
Zacharias poured in a game-high 24 points as Class 5A No. 11 West High improved to 8-2 on the season and 5-1 in MVC play with its third consecutive win.
Cailyn Morgan added 15 points and freshman Emma Ingersoll-Weng had 12 for the Women of Troy.
Madison Fleckenstein had 15 points and Riley Kay had 13 for Dubuque Hempstead which dropped to 4-8 on the season and 2-4 in MVC play.
