Girls Basketball Roundup: City High Stays Unbeaten With With at Waterloo East

New year, same old result for top-ranked City High.
Aubrey Joens led four players in double figures with 19 points as Class 5A No. 1 City High remained unbeaten on the season with a 74-63 win over Waterloo East in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division matchup on Friday in Waterloo.
Rose Nkumu added 15 points, Eviyon Richardson had 13 and Paige Rocca chipped in with 12 as City High improved to 9-0 on the season and 5-0 in MVC play.
Ella Cook added eight points for City High which led 35-21 at the half.
Kerris Roberts had a game-high 26 points to pace Waterloo East as the Trojans dropped to 1-7 and 0-4 in MVC contests.

Regina Gets Back on Track with Win at West Liberty
It didn’t take long for Regina to get back on track in 2019.
Following back-to-back conference losses to end 2018 Regina opened the new year with a 45-36 win over West Liberty in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup on Friday in West Liberty.
Kennedy Wallace led Regina with 15 points while Samantha Greving added 12 points as Regina improved to 5-5 on the season and 5-4 in RVC play.
West Liberty dropped to 2-9 on the season and 1-9 in RVC play.

West Branch Holds Off Mid-Prairie
Class 2A No. 14 West Branch jumped to a 10-point lead after the opening quarter and held on for a 52-46 win over Mid-Prairie in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup on Friday in West Branch.
Sasha Koenig poured in a game-high 25 points to go with five rebounds and five steals as West Branch improved to 10-2 on the season and 8-2 in RVC play with its fourth straight win.
Ryan Druecker added nine points and seven rebounds and Taylor Thein had eight points for West Branch while Kaiya Luneckas grabbed eight rebounds for the Bears.
Four players accounted for all the Mid-Prairie scoring as Myah Lugar had 13 points, Shae Becker 12, Caitlyn Riggan 11 and Maddie Nonnenmann 10.
Mid-Prairie dropped to 7-4 on the season and 6-4 in RVC play with the loss.
