Boys Basketball Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Uses Big Third Quarter to Down Williamsburg

Clear Creek Amana used a huge third quarter to overcome a three-point halftime deficit on its way to a 69-53 win over Williamsburg in a WAMAC West Division matchup in Williamsburg on Tuesday.
The Clippers trailed 36-33 at the half but outscored Williamsburg 21-3 in the third quarter while improving to 5-2 on the season.
Sophomore Christian Withrow had 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Clear Creek Amana while Nolan Schwarting had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Tyler Schrepfer added 15 points for the Clippers.
Williamsburg dropped to 1-7 on the season.

Tenth-ranked CR Prairie Downs Liberty High
Twin brothers Keegan and Kris Murray combined for 45 points to lift Class 4A tenth-ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie to a 62-43 win over Liberty High in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup on Tuesday in North Liberty.
Keegan Murray poured in a game-high 26 and Kris added 19 as the Hawks improved to 5-1 on the season and 4-0 in MVC play with their fifth consecutive win.
Andre Brandon had nine points while Ben Houselog and Bowen Gryp each had eight points for Liberty High as the Lightning dropped to 4-2 on the season and 2-2 in MVC play.

Patrick McCaffery set a new West High single game scoring record with 41 points as Class 4A fifth-ranked West High held off Cedar Rapids Washington 68-67 on Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Iowa City.
West High improved to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in MVC play while Cedar Rapids Washington dropped to 3-3 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.

CR Jefferson Edges City High in Overtime
City High dropped its fourth straight game on Tuesday falling to Cedar Rapids Jefferson 59-56 in overtime in a Mississippi Valley Conference matchup in Cedar Rapids.
Willie Guy scored 24 of his game-high 26 points in the second half and overtime as Cedar Rapids Jefferson improved to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in MVC play.
Antonio Turner had 16 points to lead three City High players in double figures as the Little Hawks dropped to 2-4 on the season and 0-4 in MVC play.
DeAngelo McNeil had 13 points and Carter Westlake added 12 for the Little Hawks.

Class 3A ninth-ranked Marion scored 46 second-half points to erase a 12-point halftime deficit in a 73-67 win over Solon on Tuesday in Marion.
Will Henricksen scored a game-high 24 points to help Marion improve to 6-1 on the season while Solon dropped to 1-5 with the loss.
David Bluder had 19 points to pace Solon while Cam Miller had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans.
Bo Janssen added nine points and Clay Gerdin had eight points and six rebounds.
