Boys Basketball Roundup: Liberty High Rallies for First MVC Win Over Western Dubuque

The first Mississippi Valley Conference win for Liberty High came on Tuesday in memorable fashion.
Liberty High rallied from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter to earn a 61-59 win over Western Dubuque in an MVC cross-divisional matchup in Epworth.
The Lightning took their only lead of the game with 12 seconds left and held on to improve to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in MVC play.
Western Dubuque dropped to 1-3 and 0-2 in MVC play with its second straight loss.
Andre Brandon had a game-high 20 points to lead three Liberty High players in double figures.
Ethan O’Donnell added 13 points, Grayson Tyler had 12 and Bowen Gryp added nine.

Regina Rolls at Durant
Sophomore Ashton Cook scored a career-high 24 points as Regina rolled to an 83-59 win over Durant on Tuesday in a River Valley Conference South Division contest in Durant.
Cook hit 11-of-12 field goal attempts as Regina shot 69 percent from the floor while improving to 4-1 on the season and 4-1 in RVC play.
Durant dropped to 3-3 on the season and 2-3 in RVC games.
Masen Miller had 21 points, five assists and four steals for Regina and Bryce Barnett added 14 points three rebounds and three assists.
Luke Stein had nine points and five rebounds and Alex Wick had seven points and two assists.

West Branch Pulls Away From Wilton
Class 2A eighth-ranked West Branch remained unbeaten on the season with a 68-39 win over Wilton on Tuesday in a River Valley Conference South Division matchup in West Branch.
The Bears broke open a three-point halftime lead by outscoring Wilton 19-6 in the third quarter and improved to 6-0 on the season and 6-0 in RVC play.
Wilton dropped to 1-5 and 0-5 in RVC contests.
Beau Cornwell led West Branch with 23 points, seven rebounds and four steals while Brady Lukavsky added 15 points.
Zach Thompson had 10 points and five assists and Ted Bridges had five points and 11 rebounds.
