West Branch had a five-game winning streak to open the season come to a halt with a 45-33 loss to defending 2A state champion Cascade on Friday in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Cascade.
Eighth-ranked Cascade broke open a four-point game at the half with a 14-point third quarter and held on to improve to 3-1 on the season and in RVC play.
West Branch dropped to 5-1 on the season and 4-1 in RVC contests.
Sasha Koenig had nine points, 10 rebounds and two assists for West Branch while Taya Young added nine points, three steals and two assists.
Mackenzie Heise had seven points and seven rebounds for the Bears.

Regina Rallies Past Camanche
Regina used a 20-point third-quarter to erase a nine-point halftime deficit on its way to a 60-46 win over Camanche on Friday in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup in Iowa City.
The Regals held Camanche to just 10 second-half points while improving to 2-2 on the season and 2-2 in RVC play.
Camanche dropped to 1-4.
Kennedy Wallace led Regina with 30 points while Sam Greving added 15 points and five rebounds.
Annie Gahan had nine points, eight rebounds and four assists and Claire Gaarde had nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.
