City High lost its season opener in each of its first two seasons under head coach Derek Roberts.
The Little Hawks stopped that streak in a big way on Thursday.
City High built a 21-4 lead after one quarter and never let up in a 58-15 season-opening win in a non-conference contest at Muscatine.
Senior point guard Antonio Turner scored 18 of his game-high 23 points in the opening half as City High built a 38-9 lead.
The Little Hawks didn’t allow more than five points in any quarter while winning their season opener for the first time since 2015.
Carter Westlake added 12 points and Wyatt Streeby had six as City High stopped a three-game losing skid to the Muskies.
Nate Diercks led Muscatine with five points.
