Lauren Schrock didn’t waste any time establishing herself as one of the top hitters in Class 3A.
In her first two seasons of high school volleyball Schrock recorded nearly 400 kills, leading Solon in kills this season after ranking second on the team as a freshman.
Schrock was just as efficient in nailing down her college plans.
The sophomore outside hitter announced on Twitter on Tuesday she was verbally committing to Iowa.
“I am extremely blessed to announce my commitment to play volleyball and continue my academic career at the University of Iowa!” Schrock wrote on twitter.
After posting 148 kills as a freshman Schrock had a breakthrough sophomore campaign this fall.
The 6-foot Schrock led Solon with 229 kills, an average of 2.9 per set, while hitting a team-best .308.
Schrock was a second-team all-WAMAC selection as a sophomore helping Solon to a 22-18 record and its first postseason win since 2014.
Iowa was 15-16 this season and 7-13 in Big 10 play.
