Rohret Leads Clear Creek Amana Past Central DeWitt, Into 3A Playoffs

Andrew Rohret was outstanding through the first eight games of the season directing Clear Creek Amana to the best start in program history.
The senior quarterback saved his best performance for when his team needed it the most.
Rohret accounted for six touchdowns as Clear Creek Amana secured its first postseason berth since 2015 with a 53-26 win over Central DeWitt in the regular season finale for both teams in DeWitt.
Clear Creek Amana improved to 8-1 with the win and secured a spot in the Class 3A playoffs which open next Friday while Central DeWitt had a two-game winning streak snapped with the loss and closed the season 5-4.
The eight wins are a regular season school record for the Clippers which bounced back from a 45-7 loss to Class 4A fourth-ranked North Scott last week.
A leader on both sides of the ball for the Clippers this season Rohret was at his best on Friday with a playoff spot on the line.
The senior rushed for 199 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 79 yards and two more scores as Clear Creek Amana put up a season-high 53 points.
Rohret also returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown and made 3.5 tackles from his outside linebacker spot to the help the Clippers reach the postseason for the sixth time.
He used his arm to help Clear Creek Amana jump out a 19-0 first quarter lead it would never give up.
Rohret opened the scoring with a 74-yard touchdown but then threw touchdown passes of 6 and 41 yards to junior Sam Stevens to put the Clippers up 19-0 after the opening quarter.
Rohret had touchdown runs of 57 and 13 yards in the second quarter as the Clippers took a commanding 33-7 into the locker room at halftime.
Central DeWitt used a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs by senior quarterback Drew Kueter to get back into the game but Senior Mitch Evans and Rohret snuffed out any hopes of a Saber comeback.
Evans returned an interception 85 yards for a touchdown and added an 88-yard kickoff return for a score in a 20-point Clipper fourth quarter that secured the win.
Rohret also returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Stevens led the way with four receptions for 91 yards and two touchdowns as Rohret finished 7-of-12 passing for 79 yards and two touchdowns.
The Clippers rolled up 257 yards rushing on 29 attempts, its second highest rushing total of the season.
Grant Jensen led the Clppers with 7.5 tackles while Zach Kabbage had seven stops and JJ Denny had five tackles.
Sam Noska, TJ Bollers and Zane Cunningham all had a tackle for loss for Clear Creek Amana.
