Cross Country Roundup: Liberty High Fifth at Wartburg Invitational

The Liberty High girls cross country team placed fifth and Regina was ninth at the Wartburg Steve Johnson Invite on Saturday at the Wartburg College Cross Country Course in Waverly.
Liberty High freshman Ashlyn Keeney won the individual title in a time of 17:34.4 to help the Lightning to a fifth-place team finish with 155 points.
Onalaska, Wisconsin won the team title with 50 points followed by Class 4A eighth-ranked Pleasant Valley with 77, 4A No. 3 Dubuque Senior with 89 and 4A No. 12 Urbandale with 119.
Class 1A third-ranked Regina was the top in-state non-4A finisher, placing ninth with 324 points.
Camille Mac placed ninth for Liberty High with a time of 18:56.2 while McKenzie Logan was 12th in 19:11.6.
Freshman Josie Voss placed 37th in 20:03.2 to lead Regina while Annalee Bartles was 51st in 20:20.3.

The Regina boys team placed 27th at the Wartburg Steve Johnson Invite on Saturday at the Wartburg College Cross Country Course in Waverly.
Dubuque Hempstead won the team title with 40 points followed by Dubuque Senior with 118, Indianola with 130 and Linn-Mar with 149.
Ethan Boileau finished in 133 place in a time of 18:55.7 to lead Regina.

Clear Creek Amana Attends Prestigious Roy Griak Invitational
Clear Creek Amana hopes to compete for a Class 3A state championship next month in Fort Dodge.
The second-ranked Clippers found a new way to prep themselves for that challenge this season.
Clear Creek Amana competed for the first time in the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Gold Course.
The Clippers placed 32nd out of 55 teams from around the Midwest in the gold division finishing with 784 points.
Edina, Minnesota won the team title with 154 points followed by Olathe North, Kansas and Wayzata, Minnesota.
Class 4A top-ranked West Des Moines Dowling was the top placer from Iowa finishing fourth with 185 points.
Junior Jack Sexton was the top finisher for the Clippers placing 80th out of more than 500 runners in a time of 17:03.2. Nick O’Connor was 118th in 17:17.4 and senior Cole Liebe was 145th in 17:29.3.
