Clear Creek Amana didn’t drop a set on Saturday on its way to claiming the team title at the Dunkerton Invitational.
Class 4A No. 15 Clear Creek Amana went 5-0 on Saturday to improve to 14-7 on the season and knocked off BCLUW 25-21, 25-23 in the title game.
Clear Creek Amana went 3-0 in pool play with wins over Northwood-Kensett (21-8, 21-4), BCLUW (21-15, 21-12) and West Central (21-13, 21-12).
Amelia Pereira had six kills and Calia Clubb had three kills in the win over Northwood-Kensett while Hailey Pollock had four aces and Cheyaenne Bunch had 10 assists.
Against BCLUW Pollock led CCA with four kills while Clubb had three. Jordan Neely finished with 11 digs and Bunch had nine assists.
In a win over West Central Clubb had six kills, Madison George had four while Bunch had 16 assists and Neely 12 digs.
Clubb had five kills and Pollock had three as Clear Creek Amana downed host Dunkerton 21-12, 21-14 in the semifinals.
Neely had seven digs and Bunch 12 assists in the semifinal match.
In the title match win over BCLUW Pollock had nine kills and Clubb added eight.
Neely had 27 digs in the title match while Bunch had 24 assists.
City High Runner-up at Dubuque Invitational
City High has had its fair share of ups and downs this season.
The Little Hawks hope Saturday is the start of an upward trend to end the season.
City High went 5-1 on its way to a runner-up finish at the Dubuque Invitational on Saturday, falling to Class 4A fourth-ranked Independence in the championship match.
Kelsey Law had 47 kills and Ellie Evans had 43 kills in the six matches as City High improved to 12-8 on the season.
City High went 4-0 in pool play with straight set wins over ADM (21-12, 21-11), Bettendorf (21-11, 21-17) and Davenport North (21-11, 21-11) and added a 21-18, 19-21, 16-14 win over Dubuque Hempstead.
The match of the day for City High was a 12-25, 26-24, 16-14 win over West High Which avenged a four-set loss to the Women of Troy in the season opener for both teams last month.
City High fell to Independence 25-23, 25-23 in the title match.
Law had 22 digs to go with her team-best 47 kills on the day while Evans had 38 digs and six ace serves along with her 43 kills.
Mackenzie Murphy had 39 kills and six ace serves while Lindsey Bolton had 82 assists and 22 digs.
Makayla Ribble had 68 assists, 29 digs and six aces and Eryn Dailey and Brooke Bormann each had 32 digs for City High.
Liberty High Wins Silver Bracket at Dubuque Invite
Liberty High followed up a 2-2 performance in pool play with a pair of wins to claim the silver bracket title at the Dubuque Invitational on Saturday.
Class 4A No. 12 Liberty High improved to 10-9 on the season with the 4-2 performance on Saturday earning pool play wins over Dubuque Senior (21-10, 21-17) and Davenport West (21-3, 21-15).
Liberty High fell to 4A No. 13 North Scott (21-17, 21-14) and West High (21-10, 23-21) in pool play.
The Lightning knocked off Bettendorf (25-10, 25-16) in the semifinals of the silver bracket and defeated North Scott 25-21, 22-25, 15-9 in the consolation championship.
LeeAnn Potter led Liberty High with 44 kils while Olivia Slattery added 30 kills, Sydney Woods had 20 and Hailey Hested had 19 for the Lightning.
Hested had 97 assists and seven ace serves while Woods added seven ace serves and Potter had six.
Addie Schmierer had a team-high 44 digs while Potter had 29 digs and Woods had 25.
