Brylee Klosterman still has two more seasons of high school softball in front of her.
That didn’t stop the Liberty High junior from locking down her collegiate plans.
Klosterman verbally committed to play collegiate softball at Iowa on Wednesday, announcing her future plans on Twitter.
“I’m beyond excited to announce that I have committed to play softball at the University of Iowa,” Klosterman wrote. “Growing up it was my lifelong dream to play in the black and gold uniform and I’m blessed to see it finally coming true.”
Three seasons into her career Klosterman is already considered among the top players in the state.
A three-time all-state selection Klosterman is a career .410 hitter with 63 extra-base hits and 93 RBI.
Klosterman earned third-team Class 5A all-state honors as an eighth-grader in 2016 and was a first-team pick in 2017 while at West High.
Last season Klosterman earned Class 4A second-team all-state honors after leading Liberty High in nearly every offensive statistical category in the first varsity season for the Lightning.
The sophomore outfield hit .360 with nine doubles, seven triples and three home runs a season ago while driving in 26 runs.
In 378 career at bats Klosterman has struck out just 41 times while drawing 49 walks and scoring 104 runs.
Iowa hired Renee Gillispie as head coach on June 8th after the Hawkeyes finished 21-32 last season.
“I’d like to thank my parents, coaches, and God for giving me this amazing opportunity,” Klosterman wrote on Twitter. “I’d like to thank Coach Gillespie and the Iowa coaching staff for turning my dream int a reality.”
