Deniz Ince finished seventh to lead West High to a sixth-place team finish at the 13th Roosevelt Heartland Cross Country Classic on Saturday at Central College in Pella.

Ince placed seventh in 19:42.7 to help West High place sixth with 214 points at the 26-team meet that features teams from around the Midwest.

Class 4A top-ranked Johnston won the team title with 94 points followed by Waukee with 101, Southeast Polk with 112, Fremont (Nebraska) with 148 and Lincoln Southwest (Nebraska) with 205.

City High finished 12th with 322 points and was led by freshman Rowan Boulter who placed 22nd in a time of 20:28.5.

Sophomore Kiara Malloy-Salgado finished 28th for West High in a time of 20:37.8 while Erica Buettner was 52nd in 21:20.8 and Maddy Negley was 53rd in 21:21.1.

Esti Brady placed 44th in 21:11.1 for City High.

Linn-Mar sophomore Micah Poellet won the individual title in 18:49.7 while Peyton Kelderman of Waukee was second in 19:24.5.

City High finished 23rd at the 31-team Roosevelt Heartland Cross Country Classic on Saturday at Central College in Pella.

Edina (Minnesota) won the team title with 57 points while Class 4A top-ranked West Des Moines Dowling was second in 111 and Sioux Falls Lincoln was third in 141.

City High finished with 643 points and was led by Mitchell Wilkes who was 106th in a time of 18:15.9.
