Solon Puts Four on WAMAC East First Team

Solon matched Mount Vernon for the best WAMAC East record and led all East Division teams in total wins with 27 victories.
On Wednesday the Spartans began to reap the rewards of another strong season.
Solon had four players named to the WAMAC East Division first team when the conference announced its postseason awards.
Juniors Taylor Moore, Taylor Ryan and Skylar Stookey were all first-team East Division selections along with sophomore Kayla West to headline a group of seven Spartans to earn postseason recognition.
Senior infielder Madison Rogers was a second-team East Division pick while eighth-graders Jada Buffington and Ava Stebral were both honorable mention picks.
West was a first-team pick as a pitcher after compiling a 20-4 record and 2.16 ERA in 139 1/3 innings.
Stookey was the East Division first-team catcher following a junior season in which she led Solon with nine home runs and 44 RBI while hitting .426.
Moore hit .367 with 10 doubles and 27 RBI on her way to being a first-team pick as an infielder. Ryan was a first-team pick as an outfielder and led Solon with a .579 batting average, 52 runs, 73 hits and 37 stolen bases.
Clear Creek Amana had three players named to the WAMAC West Division second team.
Senior third baseman Danielle Wnek and sophomore shortstop Karsyn Stratton were both second-team picks as infielders while sophomore Raina Henze was a second-team selection as a pitcher.
Wnek led the Clippers with a .355 batting average and scored 22 runs while Stratton hit .325 with four home runs, 21 runs and 20 RBI.
Henze went 14-9 with a 2.34 ERA, striking out 68 in 137 2/3 innings.
Freshman Gabrielle Bedford and sophomore Ainsley Schrock were both honorable mention picks for the Clippers.
