Another postseason game with another River Valley Conference opponent, another win for West Branch.

West Branch scored five runs in the final three innings to rally for a 6-4 win over West Liberty in a Class 2A, District 8 semifinal on Tuesday in Wilton.

The Bears took a 4-3 lead with a three-run fifth inning and never let West Liberty (10-16) pull even while advancing to face fifth-ranked Wilton (23-5) in the District 8 title game on Saturday at 7 p.m.

West Branch improved to 12-14 with the win, its second straight postseason win over an RVC foe and its fifth win in its last six games.

Tanner Lukavsky picked up the win allowing three unearned runs on three hits while striking out five in four innings.

Ted Bridges pitched the final three innings to earn the save, allowing one runs on five hits.

Bridges also had a double, drove in two runs and scored twice to lead the West Branch offense.

Mitchell Knoop had a double and Tanner Lukavsky had a hit.

Trey Eagle and Pete Espensen each drove in a run while Brady Lukavsky scored a run.

Clippers Close Regular Season with Sweep

Clear Creek Amana will enter the postseason on a winning-streak.

The Clippers wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday with a pair of wins over Independence in a WAMAC Conference doubleheader in Independence.

Clear Creek Amana won the opener 5-0 and took the nightcap 6-2 to snap a four-game losing skid and improve to 18-19 on the season and 14-14 in WAMAC play.

Independence closed the regular season 11-28 and was 7-21 in WAMAC play.

Camden Smyka tossed a two-hit shutout in the opener, striking out three and walking two in the win.

Jordan Wolfe had a hit, scored twice and drove in two runs while Ben Swails doubled and scored a run for the Clippers.

Cody Ogden had a hit and scored a run and Sam Young doubled and drove in a run.

Clear Creek Amana snapped a 2-2 tie with four runs in the nightcap and held on for a 6-2 win.

Camden Armstrong, Ogden and Smyka all had two hits in the game two win.

Ogden drove in three runs while Armstrong and Young each scored twice.

David Jensen picked up the win allowing two runs on four hits in a complete game and also had a hit and drove in two runs.

Late Rally Dooms West High in Loss to Davenport Central

Davenport West scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally past West High 8-7 in a top-10 regular season finale for both teams on Tuesday in Davenport.

Class 4A fourth-ranked West High closed the regular season 29-10 with the loss while seventh-ranked Davenport Central improved to 25-9.

The loss snapped a nine-game winning streak for West High which opens postseason play on Friday by hosting Muscatine.

Lucas Karwal went 2-for-4 with two RBI and Jason Strunk was homered and drove in two runs for the Trojans.

Carter Johnson doubled and drove in two runs and Ben Madden had a double, an RBI and scored two runs.

Noah Aanestad allowed five runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out four and walking six in six innings.

Alex Swack took the loss allow three runs on four hits.

Solon Hammers Washington in Regular Season Finale

Class 3A fifth-ranked Solon closed the regular season with a 15-0 win over Washington on Tuesday in a non-conference contest in Solon.

Luke Ira went 3-for-3 with a double and his state-leading 17th home run while driving in three runs to lead a 10-hit Solon attack.

Cam Miller was 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI and Adam Bock had two hits and drove in a run.

Payton Bandy and Chris McSweeney each had a hit and scored two runs while McSweeney drove in three runs.

Tyler Linderbaum struck out six in three innings of one-hit baseball to earn the win while Lucas Walker struck out the side in a hitless inning of relief.

Washington dropped to 21-11 with the loss.

City High Swept by North Scott

North Scott swept City High in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Mercer Park in Iowa City winning the opener 5-4 and taking the nightcap 20-7.

City High dropped to 21-17 with the losses while North Scott improved to 25-9.

JD Alberhasky was the tough luck loser in game one allowing one run on three hits in four strong innings of relief of starter Brady Herzic.

Sam Lewers went 2-for-3 and scored twice while Travis Reyhons was 2-for-4 and scored a run in the opener.

Ben Steve and Jacob Dykes each had a hit and drove in a run for City High.

North Scott pounded out 18 hits off four different City High pitchers in game two while completing the sweep.

Reyhons went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Lewers had a double, scored a run and drove in three to lead City High in the nightcap.

Dykes had a double and RBI in game two.
