Softball Roundup: Liberty High Wins Postseason Debut in 10 Innings

It took a few extra innings but Liberty High made its first postseason appearance a memorable one.
Brylee Klosterman doubled in the tenth inning to score Addie Schmierer as Liberty High edged Central DeWitt 3-2 in 10 innings in a Class 4A, 6 Quarterfinal on Thursday in DeWitt.
Liberty High improved to 18-23 and advanced to the Region 6 semifinals where it will face No. 11 Cedar Rapids Xavier (23-16) on Saturday in Cedar Rapids.
Central DeWitt closed the season 17-18.
Klosterman was one of four Liberty High players with two hits and helped the Lightning take a 2-0 lead with an RBI double in the first inning.
Kara Maiers picked up the win for Liberty High allowing two runs on four hits while striking out 10.

West High Ends Season With Loss in Regional Quarterfinal
Dubuque Senior broke open a close game with a five-run sixth inning on its way to a 6-0 win over West High on Thursday in a Class 5A, Region 7 Quarterfinal in Dubuque.
The loss ended the season for West High (17-24) while Dubuque Senior improved to 18-20 and advanced to take on third-ranked Dubuque Hempstead (29-11) in the Region 7 semifinals on Saturday.
Kyra Stoll had a double and Eva Burbidge, Brooke Goodman and Cynthia Hull all had singles for West High.
Burbidge took the loss for the Women of Troy allowing four runs, three earned, on nine hits while striking out four in five innings.
