Softball Roundup: Regina Rolls in Regional Opener

Regina needed just three innings to advance to the regional semifinals.
Class 2A No. 10 Regina (21-15) opened the postseason with a 12-0, three-inning win over Aplington-Parkersburg (4-21) on Tuesday in a Class 2A, Region 6 quarterfinal in Iowa City.
Katie Bracken tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out five as the Regals posted their third consecutive shutout.
Bracken went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs as Regina advanced to the Region 6 semifinals where it will face Denver at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Paisley Gardner went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI and Jess Hunter was 1-for-1 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored.
Carrigan O’Conner had a hit and scored three runs and Lauren Marth was 2-for-3 and drove in a run.
Elly Gahan and Emma Nibaur each had a hit and scored a run and Nibaur had an RBI.

West Branch Falls to BCLUW in 2A, Region 7 Quarterfinal
BCLUW broke open a tie game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth on its way to an 8-3 win over West Branch in a Class 2A, Region 7 quarterfinal on Tuesday in Conrad.
West Branch closed the season 10-21 while BCLUW improved to 20-12 with the win and advanced to the Region 7 semifinals where it will face East Marshall on Friday.
