West High jumped to early leads in both games and swept a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader from Dubuque Senior on Monday in Dubuque.
Class 4A Ninth-ranked West High won the opener 7-2 and added a 5-3 win in the nightcap to improve to 23-9 on the season and 14-8 in MVC play.
Dubuque Senior had a five-game winning streak snapped with the loss and dropped to 12-20 on the year and 10-14 in conference play.
West High scored three runs in the first inning of the opener and never trailed.
Nick Biancuzzo and Chase Calderwood each had three hits as West High hammered 14 hits in the opener.
Ben Madden and Austin Curtiss each had two hits and drove in two runs while Lucas Karwal homered for West High.
Austin West had two hits and scored a run for West High and Calderwood and Tyler Stern each drove in a run.
Stern picked up the win, allowing two runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings and Noah Aanestad worked 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
West High scored three runs in the first inning of the nightcap and added two more in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead it would never give up.
Jack Wilson earned the win in game two striking out seven while allowing one run on four hits in four innings. Connor Greer worked the final three innings, allowing two runs on six hits.
Braden Houston went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and four RBI to lead West High.
Karwal and Alex Schwickerath each had a hit and scored a run in game two.

Walker Tosses Second Consecutive No-Hitter
Throwing a no-hitter is usually a once in a career type moment.
That won’t be the case for Lucas Walker.
The Solon sophomore fired his second consecutive no-hitter on Monday in the opening game of a doubleheader sweep of Maquoketa.
Walker struck out nine and walked one in a six-inning no-hitter as Solon won the first game 10-0 over the Cardinals.
The no-hitter for Walker comes less than a week after the left-hander tossed seven no-hit innings in a 5-0 win over Benton Community.
Class 3A fifth-ranked Solon took the nightcap 11-0 in fiving innings to complete the sweep and improved to 25-8 on the season and 21-5 in WAMAC play.
Tyler Linderbaum earned the win in game two, allowing three hits and striking out six in the three-inning complete game.
Maquoketa dropped to 3-26 and 3-23 in WAMAC play.

Gahan No-Hits Northeast
Mitch Gahan struck out nine in a five-inning no-hitter as Class 2A third-ranked Regina rolled to 12-0 win over Northeast on Monday in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional contest in Iowa City.
It was the second consecutive no-hitter for Gahan who fanned 10 over seven no-hit innings in a 6-0 win over Durant last Monday.
In his most recent start, Gahan allowed just two base runners, both on fielding errors while improving to 6-2 on the season.
The senior also had a double, drove in a run and scored a run as Regina improved to 21-7 on the season and 14-2 in RVC play.
Northeast dropped to 7-19 and 6-12 in conference games.
Blake Berns went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI and Ryne Schooley drove in two runs to lead Regina.
Trent Hoogerwerf went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI while Ryan Schott had two hits, drove in a run and scored twice.

Clear Creek Amana Sweeps South Tama
After closing last week with three consecutive losses Clear Creek Amana didn’t waste anytime getting back on track on Monday.
Clear Creek Amana hammered 30 hits while sweeping South Tama in a WAMAC West Division doubleheader in Tiffin.
The Clippers won the opener 9-1 and took the nightcap 11-4 to improve to 16-15 on the season and 12-12 in WAMAC play while South Tama dropped to 12-15 on the season and 12-13 in conference games.
Camden Armstrong allowed just one unearned run on five hits in a complete game win in the opener and also went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Camden Smyka went 4-for-4 with a double and drove in two runs and Sam Young went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI in the opener.
Cody Ogden went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Tyler Schrepfer went 2-for-3 in the opener.
Casey Ogden earned the win in the nightcap allowing four runs, one earned, on seven hits.
David Jensen went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI in game two while Sam Young and Cody Ogden each went 3-for-4.
Young scored a run while Cody Ogden had three runs and drove in three runs.
Jordan Wolfe went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and Armstrong went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
