Softball Roundup: Regina Sweeps West Branch in RVC Finale

Regina closed the River Valley Conference season with a sweep of a rival.
Class 2A eighth-ranked Regina won a pair of 7-0 decisions over West Branch in an RVC South Division doubleheader on Thursday in West Branch.
Regina improved to 20-15 on the season and 14-4 in RVC play while West Branch dropped to 10-20 and 5-14 in conference contests.
Katie Bracken tossed a complete game two-hitter in the opener, striking out nine and walking four.
Emma Nibaur went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI to lead Regina while Lauren Marth had a hit and two RBI.
Annie Gahan had a hit and scored two runs, Carrigan O’Conner had a hit, an RBI and scored a run and Jess Hunter scored twice for Regina.
Paisley Gardner spun a three-hitter in the nightcap, striking out four and walking two and also went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
Marth went 2-for-3 and drove in a run and Nibaur was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Nola Murhammer went 2-for-3 with a home run for the Regals.

City High Drops two at Cedar Rapids Prairie
Cedar Rapids Prairie swept City High in a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader on Thursday in Iowa City winning the opener 6-3 and taking the nightcap 13-9.
City High dropped to 17-15 on the season and 14-10 in MVC play while Prairie improved to 25-11 and 19-3 in conference games.
Carey Koenig and Sydney Fellows homered for City High in the opener while Ella Cook, Fellows and Keli Potter hit home runs in the nightcap.
